Paddock

Kirby Air Riders

The paddock is an online lobby. When creating a paddock, players can determine who can enter: anyone, friends, or those who know the room's passcode; a paddock also features a play style and a maximum number of members. Up to 32 players can gather in a paddock, where they can mingle and chat. Players can join a paddock by entering the 6-digit paddock ID, being invited by the paddock proprietor (host), and entering the appropriate passcode when applicable. Players can emote by pressing Y, selecting one of four categories (Greet, Mingle, Announce, React) by tilting the Left Stick, then selecting one of four messages by tilting the Left Stick. The player can also press L or R, then tilt the Left Stick to choose a category and then tilt the Right Stick to choose a message; alternatively, the player can tilt both the Left and Right Sticks and then press L or R to send their message. Players can select their Riders and Machines, as well as Rider Colors, My Machine options, and Headwear, by pressing -; each player's chosen machine will appear in the hangar to the right of the paddock. Near the entrance and to the left side of the paddock are terminals players can interact with to create or join matches for Air Ride, Top Ride, or City Trial. Next to the left match terminal is the Jukebox that players can interact with to change the music playing in the paddock. In the center of the paddock is the big screen that displays various gameplay clips; any players near the TV will be able to hear its audio. The TV can also display results from any matches that recently concluded. There are various other decorative elements in the paddock, such as couches, a trophy display case, a buffet table with vegetables, spaghetti and meatballs, poultry, a cake, and three beverage dispensers.

Trivia

- The "Congrats" message uniquely causes applause to play and confetti to fall around the player; this is the only emote to do this, even though "Great job!" and "OK!" perform the same animations.
